Activities Undertaken to Improve Teaching, Learning, and Assessment: Scholarship, Innovation, and Professional Development

As aforementioned, there are many ways that educators can contribute to the field of education, and such scholarly activities may not even involve putting pen to paper. Ideally, however, the products of educational scholarship should be well-developed, considered, and implemented, continually and carefully assessed, and ultimately, shared with others in the medical education community. I have a lot to learn in these areas, but fortunatey, I have already accumulated a fair bit of formal and informal scholarly experience to reflect upon and develop further.

As I strive to become a better educator, my own professional development represents my commitment to scholarship. In particular, the Master of Medical Education in Health Sciences Education program that I am involved in through the University of Alberta, and my upcoming third year as a clinical research fellow, will no doubt be instrumental in this scholarship.

In this section of my portfolio, I highlight my past, present, and future development through my various contributions to medical education. This includes work in curriculum and assessment development, including that through my committee involvement and other projects. My commitment to learning more about medical education, as well as a list of my publications and other contributions will be outlined. Last, this section will also map out my work for an upcoming educational research project, as well as a future project that I hope to be involved with at a multi-national level. Supporting documentation for each of these has been included within their respective sections.
